For the project Threading Memory, I asked women to send me clothing they had attached a specific memory to and to write down the memory of the object. I styled the collection of garments with appropriate accessories and complementary clothing to enhance the items and make them believable in the realm of women’s fashion. I worked with models that could easily be mistaken for professional catalog models. I photographed them within a rustic studio setting as a method of complementing nostalgia and memory. The accompanying copy in the catalog and website details the memory of the item as worn by its owner. The clothing is not actually for sale, but the idea of selling the clothes based on the memory was appealing to me. I intended to make the catalog trendy and believable in the consumer market today. I am interested in the idea of desire created for objects based on visual representation by media.
